My conversion rate dropped for no apparent reason. What usually causes this?

CVR inconsistency is the dominant store-related frustration in the data

CVR fluctuates daily and most operators don't have a mental model for why. The most common real causes:

  • Small sample size creating statistical noise: At 30–50 daily sessions, a 2% CVR vs. 0.5% CVR is often just variance. You need 200+ sessions per day before CVR is statistically meaningful. Don't panic-change a store over 2 days of low CVR at low volume.
  • Audience quality shift: Meta rotated your ad to a lower-intent audience segment. If CVR drops but CTR stayed flat, it's a traffic quality problem, not a page problem.
  • Creative fatigue starting: If your winning creative has been running for 2+ weeks, the audience who was going to buy already has. You're now reaching people who've seen the ad and aren't interested.
  • Actual page issue: App update broke something. Checkout flow changed. App conflicts. Run a test order to verify the full funnel is working.
