Do I need a Facebook page and Instagram before I can run ads?

Setup question asked before first ad launch — delays beginners unnecessarily

Yes, you need a Facebook Page connected to your Business Manager to run ads. But the page doesn't need to be built-out — it just needs to exist.

  • Minimum setup: A Facebook Page with your store name, a profile photo (your logo is fine), and a short about section. That's it. No feed posts required. No followers required. No active Instagram required.
  • Instagram: Connecting an Instagram account allows your ads to run on Instagram placements. If you don't have one, Meta will still run ads but only on Facebook placements. Connect an IG account if you have one — it expands your ad inventory.
  • The mistake to avoid: Spending a week building a perfect Facebook Page with cover photos, posts, and follower-building before running a single ad. None of that affects ad performance. Launch the ad with a minimal page and build the page later if the product wins.
