My hook rate (3-second view) is high but my CTR is still low. What's happening?

Hook mechanics are poorly understood at all operator levels

This is a classic hook-body disconnect. Your hook is stopping the scroll (high 3-second view rate) but your ad body isn't delivering enough to make them click. Possible reasons:

  • The hook promises something the body doesn't deliver: You stopped them with curiosity or shock, but the ad shifted to generic product features. The viewer stopped scrolling out of intrigue — not because they wanted to buy.
  • The offer isn't visible in the ad: The viewer watched your 30-second video but never saw a price, a CTA, or a reason to click. Make your offer and CTA appear by second 8–10 at the latest.
  • The wrong hook for your audience: Some hooks attract broad audiences who aren't buyers. A viral "wow" hook brings everyone; a pain-specific hook brings buyers. High hook rate with low CTR often means you're stopping the wrong people.
Tactical FixTest isolating your hook from your body. Run 3 different bodies with the same high-performing hook. If CTR lifts, the hook was fine and the body was the problem. If CTR stays flat across all bodies, the hook itself is attracting the wrong viewer — build hooks that speak specifically to buyer pain, not broad curiosity.
