I found a product on a spy tool. Should I run it even if competitors are already running it?

Very common validation question — the answer changes how beginners select products

Yes — competition is validation, not a reason to skip. If a competitor has been running the same product on Meta for 60+ days with consistent spend, that's proof of a buying market. They're not losing money and continuing to run those ads — they're profitable.

The question isn't "should I enter a competitive product?" It's "can I enter with a better angle than what's already running?"

  • Study what's already running: Look at the ads in Meta's Ads Library. What angles are they using? What pain points are they addressing? What creative format? Your job is to find the angle they haven't used — or execute the same angle with a better hook, better persona, or better offer.
  • Don't copy the creative directly: Use competitor ads as angle validation and inspiration, not as a script. A direct copy raises compliance risk and produces lower CPMs because the audience has already seen it.
  • The counter-intuition: A product with zero competitors should make you skeptical. Either the market doesn't exist, the margin doesn't work, or you're about to discover why every other operator who tried it failed.
